5SOS don't understand why fans ask them for a 'follow' on Twitter: 'We want to go deeper'

The 5 Seconds Of Summer lads dropped by Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM radio show this morning (July 30) and members Calum Hood, Luke Hemmings, and Ashton Irwin turned up for the live slot.

When asked where Michael Clifford was, heartthrob Calum Hood explained that they weren't sure: "He's AWOL. No one knows where he is! It happens often." Drummer Ashton Irwin joked that Clifford ran off to start a solo career: "It's a subtle hint. One morning we got up and he was gone... a candle in the wind!"

Irwin then opened up about the reception fans have given them while they've been in Los Angeles this week: "Yeah, they're cool like that, they always say hi. Half the time we don't even know where we're going, but they're always there!"

Seacrest asked what the most common thing fans say to them and Irwin admitted it's usually a request to follow them on social media sites: "'Can you follow me on Twitter?' - that's the main one. We have people we look up to, like Dave Grohl, but I'd never ask him to follow me on Twitter. I'd want to go deep and have a conversation."

The 'She Looks So Perfect' hitmakers then talked about selling tickets to their upcoming concert at Los Angeles' The Forum, which they did over the weekend, and joked that people were surprised to see them in the booth processing credit card payments:

"The mums were like, 'why are you selling tickets? I want a professional doing this." Some of the fans were quite calm... some of them were worried they wouldn't actually get tickets because we didn't know what we were doing. We had help, though."
