5SOS make history with their debut album in the USA

Australian band 5 Seconds Of Summer recently released their self-titled debut album in the USA and they have already made history with the record, which has hit the No.1 spot on the Billboard chart.

Nielsen SoundScan has confirmed that the heartthrobs have shifted around 259,000 copies of the album so far, which gives them the third biggest debut of 2014 in America.

Additionally, this impressive figure is the largest for a group in nearly eight years and the title was previously held by Daughtry, whose debut record sold 304,000 back in November 2006. The band's debut full-length offering is also now the biggest debut by an Australian act in the entire SoundScan era, which began back in 1991.

Earlier today (July 30), meanwhile, 5SOS confirmed that they will be hitting the road for their very own headlining tour of the USA next summer and drummer Ashton Irwin shared more details about the news: "It starts July next year... it's a little while away, but we'll actually have a lot done by them. We're working on our second album already."
