5SOS's Ashton reveals desire to record an acoustic album

5 Seconds Of Summer's Ashton Irwin has revealed that he's really keen to record an acoustic album at some point because he loves the stripped back sound and style.

Writing on his official Twitter page this afternoon (August 5), the 'She Looks So Perfect' drummer explained that it would be really cool to work on a project like that in the future:

"Love acoustic gigs :) I'd also like to do some sorta acoustic album recordings one day :) loving NY today, you guys are awesome x."

Earlier this month, Irwin confessed that his band were initially reluctant to sign onto One Direction's Where We Are tour as the main support act because they worried it would pigeon-hole them as a boy band: "It was all very scary for us because we were a young rock band type of thing. We were very confused by why we would go on tour with One Direction in the first place because it was so different."

"It seemed like a good idea to grow our music and our live performance [skills]," he said. "It would make such a dynamic tour and really explain the difference between the two bands. It's cool that young kids get to go home with a bit of education on rock music."
