5 Seconds of Summer on learning how to command a stadium: 'It's a hard thing to do'

5 Seconds of Summer have admitted that playing stadiums has been a learning curve for the band.

The group are currently supporting One Direction on their Where We Are world stadium tour.

The Australians have gone down well and they told Billboard that their ultimate aim is to put on the perfect stadium show - something that is "hard" to achieve.

Drummer Ashton Irwin said: "It's good fun to work on your stage presence. It's a massive experience to actually be in a band and learn how to control a stadium. You look up to people all your life, like Billie Joe [Armstrong] from Green day and Dave Grohl and how they command a stadium and perform and put on an intimate show in such a huge place.

"That's what we're learning. It's a hard thing to do."

5 Seconds of Summer meanwhile will embark on their own headline world tour - in arenas and amphitheatres - in 2015.
