5 Seconds of Summer have praised their fans after bagging an MTV VMA this weekend.

The pop-punks won the publicly voted Best Lyric Video prize at the awards ceremony on Sunday (August 24) for their 'Don't Stop' clip.

They also performed the track 'Amnesia' at the event to cap off a successful day.

Speaking on Twitter, Michael Clifford commented: "Cannot believe we've just won a VMA... all of this is thanks to you guys. Best fans EVURRRRRRRR. I love you."

Bandmate Calum Hood meanwhile added: "Amazing experience playing the VMAs tonight. Thankyou to everyone who voted for us. I love you."

Some of the other performers on the night included Taylor Swift, Usher and Jessie J.
