5SOS on sophomore album: 'We're doing bits and pieces, but will focus more on it in 2015'

Australian hitmakers 5 Seconds Of Summer only released their debut record earlier this summer, but they have now revealed that work has begun on their next offering, but they'll dedicate more time to that in the new year.

Michael Clifford admitted to Billboard that 5SOS have started work on their sophomore album, although they will focus more on that in 2015: "We've started writing for the next album now - we're doing little bits and pieces - but the majority of it will be next year. We've still got some more stuff to come this year!"

Luke Hemmings confessed that they'll be touring their self-titled debut album extensively in the next year: "We'd like to tour a lot of this album because fans haven't heard these songs live, so it makes sense to do that."

Drummer Ashton Irwin went onto add that it's great to think they can use this platform to expose the bands that inspired them growing up as kids today don't seem to be familiar with their music:

"We get surprised when people don't know guys like Dave Grohl [...] old Australian bands are great, like Jet and The Living End. There's old bands like that we grew up with... we've been listening to a lot of Australian bands like that - and Silverchair. We have a weird music taste, but it's cool we can introduce those bands to our fans."
