5 Seconds of Summer have been writing new music with Sum 41 star Deryck Whibley.

The news was revealed by guitarist Michael Clifford, who posted on Twitter today (February 13):

"Wrote two of my favorite songs I've written with @Calum5SOS @MisterMikeGreen and deryck from @Sum41 today.

"Also getting the chance to write with someone who's in one of my favorite bands of all time was amazing."

Clifford then added a photo of himself with the Sum 41 mainman.

5 Seconds of Summer are currently working on the follow-up to their 2014 self-titled debut album.
