5 Seconds of Summer have been working on new material with Simple Plan.

The Aussies are currently creating the follow-up to their 2014 self-titled debut album.

They have been working with a host of top writers, including Sum 41's Deryck Whibley and hitmaker Bonnie McKee.

Pop-punks Simple Plan have now revealed that they have been writing with 5 Seconds of Summer too.

Drummer Chuck Comeau wrote on Instagram overnight: "Amazing 2 days writing with these dudes @michaelgclifford @calumhood!

"Thanks for a great hang guys! So stoked on the songs!"

Singer Pierre Bouvier added: "Great hangs with these dudes. Keep it real boyz. #5sos#simpleplan."

5 Seconds of Summer guitarist Michael Clifford meanwhile added videos of the lads singing Simple Plan songs together.
