5 Seconds of Summer star Luke Hemmings has expressed his shock at the band's rise to fame.

The group came into the limelight by supporting One Direction on tour before releasing their self-titled debut album in 2014.

The Aussies are due to tour the world on a headline arena jaunt later this year and Hemmings told MTV that it's all still hard to believe.

"It's our first headline arena tour which is awesome and [which] I didn't think would ever happen.

"I feel like it was just yesterday that we were playing to like 300 people."

5 Seconds of Summer will return to the UK on their tour in June.
