5 Seconds of Summer: 'It was our dream to get guitar music on the radio again'5 Seconds of Summer star Michael Clifford said that one of the initial aims of the band was to see guitar music back on the radio. The Australians exude a punk-rock sound, yet they have achieved massive mainstream success. Speaking in a new interview with Hot Topic, guitarist Michael Clifford said that it has taken a "long time" for the band to get to where they're at. He said: "Ever since we started being in a band, it was always our kind of dream to get guitar music being on the radio again. "It's taken us a long time to get there, and a lot of people definitely didn't want us to try and do something different. But we stuck to our gut." Drummer Ashton Irwin added: "It's our fans that get us through. It's our fans that get our music spread around the world. "Whether or not that's leading some type of movement...it's just a great thing that our fans allow our band to exist." Follow us: @Pressparty on Twitter / Pressparty on Facebook.
