5SOS on 'She's Kinda Hot': 'It's a misfit statement - it has an important message'

Pop-punk band 5 Seconds Of Summer recently unveiled their well-received new single 'She's Kinda Hot' and the boys revealed that the song contains a message that will be important to young people growing up.

Speaking to Britain's Heat magazine, frontman Luke Hemmings explained that the song is something on a 'misfit anthem':

"I think it has a really cool message behind it, and it's not just another song. We really believe in it."

The heartthrob went onto add: "I think it's more like a misfit statement - you don't really have to fit in, you can kind of be whoever you want to be. I think it's a song we would've wanted to hear growing up."

Earlier this week, the band thanked fans for supporting the song so passionately and tweeted (July 29): "You guys have really gotten behind our new song and it means the absolute world, thank you thank you thank you."

Bassist Calum Hood recently told News.com.au that he relates to 'She's Kinda Hot' even now that he's enjoying international fame: "Everyone has felt they kind of sucked sometimes, especially with us when the band first started and we didn’t fit into anything. The first shows we played were after metal bands and everyone hated us."
