5 Seconds of Summer guitarist Michael Clifford says he was involved in a car prang just days after passing his driving test.

Speaking on the Kyle and Jackie O radio show today (October 6), the Australian admitted not paying attention at a red light.

He drove into the back of another car because he was looking at his phone.

Clifford said: "I got my licence in L.A. like last week. I was driving around and I got in a car accident.

"And then I had to drop the car off and I was late to drop the car off, and I was late to the flight and I was like, exploding.

"I was just really stupid. We were sitting at a red light and I was looking at something and I just let go of the brake."
