5SOS aren't very rock and roll: 'We don't throw TVs out of hotel windows'

Australian pop-punk band 5 Seconds Of Summer have revealed that they didn't get into the industry for fame and money, and those things don't drive them to be successful.

Guitarist Michael Clifford told Britain's Daily Star newspaper that he and the other lads haven't seen much financial return from their success yet as it doesn't come immediately in the music business:

“Are we rich? No, absolutely not. People don’t realise artists don’t make much money any more. Well we don’t anyway. We cheques don’t come for six months after so we are still waiting. We haven’t managed to treat ourselves to anything yet. I rented a car but crashed into someone so had to fork out for that. Cost me a fortune."

The cheeky heartthrob went onto add that he and the other 5SOS lads aren't as rock and roll as people might expect because they simply can't afford to be reckless at this point in their career:

"Me and Calum (Hood, bassist) don’t have to share the same bed or same bedroom, so we are just happy about that! People think life in 5SOS is rock and roll but we never trash hotels because you have to pay for that sh*t. We can’t afford to throw TVs through the window. To be fair it’s never been about money for us. We get to make and perform our music every day, which you can’t put a price on.”
