5 Seconds of Summer say writing new album was a 'release'

5 Seconds of Summer felt penning lyrics for their new album was like a "release".

The group unleashed their second record 'Sounds Good Feels Good' on October 23.

The track includes the lead single 'She's Kinda Hot', which suggests the group and their fans are part of a 'new broken scene'.

There are also deeper topics on the record, such as suicide.

Speaking to ABC Radio, guitarist Michael Clifford said their second album allowed them to delve further into certain themes.

He said: "It was like a real release to write about some of the stuff that we have.

"And especially to get into talking about topics like...there’s an anti-suicide anthem, you know. It talks about loneliness and stuff like that.

"And that was something that we didn’t get to explore on the last album, but you know, it’s really important to us on this album."

'Sounds Good Feels Good' followed up the group's self-titled debut album, which was released in 2014.
