5 Seconds of Summer pleased to see Good Charlotte return

5 Seconds of Summer have spoken of their delight at seeing Good Charlotte return to the music scene.

The US punk-rockers recently unveiled their comeback single 'Makeshift Love' - five years after the release of their last album 'Cardiology'.

Australian upstarts 5 Seconds of Summer are big fans of the band and they have written music with Good Charlotte's Benji and Joel Madden.

Speaking to Digital Spy at the weekend, drummer Ashton Irwin revealed his pleasure at seeing the group return.

He said: "Hallelujah! The pop-punk gods.

"I'd like to go and see a show of theirs. I hope it goes well. They have a lot of fans waiting for them to come back - such as us."

Referring to working with the Madden brothers, guitarist Michael Clifford added:

"It was great. Even if we weren't writing with them, just to have them around was a really positive force in our lives."

The brotherly Good Charlotte duo have written material for both 5 Seconds of Summer's 2014 self-titled debut album and their recent follow-up effort 'Sounds Good Feels Good'.
