Vulture magazine say 5SOS can fill the boyband gap left by 1D

Vulture magazine has published a new article claiming that 5 Seconds Of Summer will be a fantastic replacement for One Direction now that the UK-based boyband has finally gone on hiatus

In the editorial, the pop-punk group are praised for being alternative and for promoting real musicianship, and the piece explains that 5SOS is even helping "pop's young, female listenership feel less alone" with their authentic lyrical content:

"Like 1D, where 5SOS shine brightest is in making pop's young, female listenership feel less alone. They embrace and empathize with the now while still looking toward the hope of what comes next. In some cases, that future may very well include a guitar; it’s easy — and awesome — to see how their palm-muted power chords would inspire such a reaction among 5SOSers."

The article, which you can read in full here, concludes: "In that sense, 5 Seconds of Summer are not One Direction. But just know that in 1D’s absence, 5SOS can fill the boy-band-shaped hole in your heart — if you’re willing to break the mold a little."

5SOS, meanwhile, will kick off their Sounds Live Feels Live tour on February 19 at the Century Hall in Nagoya, Japan and they will also visit the UK, their home country of Australia, the USA, mainland Europe, Mexico and Canada on the jaunt.
