5 Seconds of Summer star Ashton Irwin has revealed his excitement at the year ahead.

The group have a busy 2016 scheduled, with the band set to embark on their Sounds Live Feels Live world tour.

Speaking on Twitter on Sunday (January 17), the drummer also teased plans for new music.

Irwin said: "Sending love out there to you all today!!! This has been the most incredible break. I feel alive!

"This time of the year is exciting. & inspiring... New plans, new music, new dreams."

5 Seconds of Summer released their second album 'Sounds Good Feels Good' in October.

The record reached No.1 in the US and the UK.
