Ashton Irwin reaches out to Halsey after she deactivates her Twitter

Five Seconds of Summer heartthrob Ashton Irwin has endearingly reached out to lend a word of support to fellow performer, Halsey.

Halsey has decided to take a break from social media and deactivated her Twitter account after receiving a host of unwarranted death threats and online hate again.

The American singer-songwriter has constantly been a target for trolls since coming onto the scene, but has tried to use her fame to stand up for the LGBT community and a series of other important issues, including bravely admitting to having suffered from bipolar disorder.

She explained that she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and spent a few weeks in a psychiatric hospital during her senior year, after attempting suicide.

The female star said: “I had tried to kill myself. I was an adolescent; I didn’t know what I was doing. Because I was 17, I was still in a children’s ward. Which was terrifying. I was in there with 9-year-olds who had tried to kill themselves.”

She has revealed in the past that she sometimes struggles when she feels attacked or unfairly criticised online by other people:

“I talk to them like real f---ing human beings, because they are. But then there’s also a sense of entitlement, where they feel like they have the right to chastise me like they would a friend. And sometimes you want to be like, ‘Who the f--- are you to say that?’"

The lads themselves have gone through a series of various issues in the past, which they've tried to cover in their latest album, saying:

"It was like a real release to write about some of the stuff that we have. And especially to get into talking about topics like...there's an anti-suicide anthem, you know. It talks about loneliness and stuff like
that. That was something that we didn't get to explore on the last album, but you know, it's really important to us on this album."
