5 Seconds of Summer shut down Times Square in New York yesterday before they even managed to turn up at the Viacom building to appear on MTV's TRL.

Times Square was packed with their fans who have been waiting two years for a new album from the Aussie band.

On MTV TRL, Ashton spoke about the inspiration behind their new single, "Want You Back", which was released last Friday (February 23).

He said: "Ever since I was in love the first time, I think I've been chasing the feeling that I felt with that particular person.

"It ain't right with her anymore, but I'm searching for that feeling that we had and I haven't found it yet... That's what the song is about for me."
