ABC News’ “Nightline” ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers (851,000) and Adults 25-54 (221,000) during the week of March 6, 2023, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. In fact, “Nightline” outdelivered CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” and NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” in Total Viewers in 7 of the last 8 weeks. In addition, “Nightline” beat the CBS program in Adults 18-49.

“Nightline” saw week-to-week increases in all key target demos: Total Viewers (+4% – 851,000 vs. 815,000), Adults 25-54 (+15% – 221,000 vs. 193,000) and Adults 18-49 (+10% – 136,000 vs. 124,000), hitting a 6-week high in the key Adult news demo ― since w/o 1/23/23.

“Nightline” posted gains on the same week last year in Total Viewers (+2% – 851,000 vs. 831,000) and Adults 25-54 (+15% – 221,000 vs. 193,000).

Season to date, “Nightline” is growing compared to the same point last season in Total Viewers (+6% – 910,000 vs. 856,000). In addition, “Nightline” leads CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” in all key target demos.

This week “Nightline” covered co-anchor Juju Chang’s sit-down interview with Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York; social media overuse among kids; hair-straightening products being subject to a federal lawsuit; the kidnapping of four Americans who crossed into Mexico from Texas; India’s Holi, the festival of color; how a string of air scares has prompted a federal probe; co-anchor Byron Pitts’ sit-down interview with Adam Lambert; Ashan Singh’s interview with Imagine Dragons; Kristin Smart’s killer’s sentencing; Impact x Nightline’s reporting of why George Santos and other public figures lie; and Oscar® night predictions.

NOTE: On Friday (3/10/23), CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” was retitled to “Late Late Show-JC-ENC” and NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” was retitled to “Seth Meyers-SM” due to being repeats. The retitled telecasts are excluded from the weekly and season averages. CBS’ and NBC’s weekly averages are based on four days (Monday-Thursday).
