I Am A Pilot Release Free Debut EP New Life Starts Tomorrow

From their humble beginnings in the carpet-walled beer cellar of a dingy Hackney pub, six-piece juggernaut I Am A Pilot ballooned into a massive airship of a band.

Having consistently filled many of the capital's finest establishments, such as Hoxton bar and kitchen, Kentish town Bull and Gate, support at Brixton academy, vintage shops, art galleries, warehouse parties, festivals including Cambridge Folk Festival, Greenman, Boom Town, Secret Garden Party, Hackney Wicked culminating in closing the stage at Nozstock festival to much acclaim, the band have packed their evocative songcraft and onstage energy into a soaring five track EP.

The EP, titled New life starts tomorrow, is like a great unassuming Buddha who scales fish by day, but at night, carves powerful ornate sound-sculptures into your brain stirring up long-forgotten emotions. With songs about murder, forgiveness, deep friendship and the will to change, this English alt-folk record conveys--from within the mess of modern existence--a deep belief in the default kindness of human animals.

“...this EP is full of real poetry - makes you flinch but at the same time could charm the bark off a petrified tree...” Hart Chalmers, Melbourne arts review

Drawn together from a variety of musical backgrounds, the band collectively craft soulful and introspective yet joyous melodies. You want to suck them in like luscious trifles layered with crashing percussion, howling harmonicas and violins, Black Keys style guitars over pub pianos, laced with Arcade Fire-esque sonic bite.
