Adam Levine says he is not egotistical

Adam Levine has swatted away suggestions that he is egotistical - saying that his self-confidence is often just misconstrued.

The Maroon 5 singer is seemingly occasionally levelled with the idea that he is in possession of an inflated ego, but speaking to ET Online, Levine said that is not the case.

Replying to accusations that fame may have changed him as a person, he said:

"[I'm] the same. [I'm] stubborn, combative, rambunctious? Confident."

He added: "[My confidence] is often misunderstood for egotistical. It's usually just people who are jealous of self-confidence who say that."

Levine also opened up on his band's musical style, suggesting they straddle between pop and rock. He said:

"We're not a tried-and-true rock band, that's just not what we are? I think that we made like, an unabashed pop record [with Overexposed] which I think will do wonders for us because it's the first record we've really ever made in which we completely embrace the fact that this is what we do, this is where we want to be and we do it with confidence."
