February 1st marks the inaugural release of Dublin’s diverse music collective Sim Simma on their newly established record label. The five track EP produced by Ben Bix and Semi-D features artists God Knows of Rusangano fame, Breezy iDeyGoke and new female vocalists Denise Chaila and Chilli Cherry.

The EP represents a new globalised Ireland where the sounds of Ireland’s now diversified landscape have given way to a fusion of grime, dancehall and hip-hop beats being accompanied by Irish rhymes of immigration, inequality, gender and sexuality. Each artist takes on their own theme before coming together under the moniker Sim Simma Soundsystem on the infectious ‘Serpent Ting’. This release follows a successful summer of shows including a headline slot at Knockanstockan   where this roster road-tested this blend of disparate influences to great applaud.

To get a flavour for what Pass the Aux Cord sounds like, Sim Simma have released a music video for Breezy iDeyGoke’s Yamma Yamma. Directed in Dublin by Rosie Barrett, it captures the energetic and vibrant backdrop Dublin provides for this exciting artist, in contrast with the track’s theme of backhanded immigration tactics that Nigeria-born Breezy has faced, making living in Ireland today challenging for those not born here but who identify as an Irish.

This is the first of a series of planned releases from Sim Simma Records. For five years now Sim Simma has fostered an open-minded, globally connected community and hosted some of the country’s most eclectic parties.

This approach has informed the ethos of the label and what Sim Simma has always believed in - t o c r e a t e a n e n v i r o n m e n t w h e r e b r illi a n t a r t i s t s c a n   c o m e t o g e t h e r a n d e x p r e s s t h e i r i d e n t i t y t h r o u g h m u s i c .

Pass the Aux Cord will be released on February 1st on digital (Spotify, iTunes and Bandcamp  etc.) and to pre-order on vinyl.
