Q&A with the one and only Telboy
As we celebrate the release of Telboy's anticipated solo single "Drawn", we had a few burning questions we wanted to ask and share with the world...
Telboy is an unsual name. Can you tell us about it? Everyone close to me used to call me Telboy growing up, like a family nickname. It's one of those things that just stuck. Either that or I'm a right dodgy geezer with a three wheeled van. I'll let you guess.
What is the funniest thing that has happened to you recently? I got overexcited watching a West Ham game last year, slipped on a toy truck and flew across the room like something out of Home Alone. It was hilarious but hurt like hell. We won, though.
Can you tell us about your favourite public performance? I've done a few large crowds before like Wembley Arena which was of course awesome. But I love playing intimate crowds like The Pigalle before it closed its doors, or the stables in Camden.
If you were a musical instrument, what would it be and why? A Cajón. It doesn't look like much but it's sound packs a nice punch. I think I just gave myself a back handed compliment.
What was the last gift you gave someone? I gave producer Toni Toolz the gift of my voice. I don't know where he'd be without me. (He'll love that I said that)
What is your favourite song of all time? It's hard because different songs connect with different emotions and trigger different memories. I discovered Luther at college and it changed the way I approached singing. A House Is Not a Home is a good'n but it's an impossible question really.
Who/what are your three biggest influences? Musically speaking, Eminem & Michael Jackson have probably influenced my writing the most but the family I have around me is the the big one.
Dead or alive, who would you want to collaborate with? I already mentioned Eminem and Michael Jackson which are obvious choices, I know. So I'll say Tori Kelly for the bonus ball. You didn't see that coming did ya?
What is in the pipeline for Telboy? I'm featuring on a Hardough-Davinci EP which will be revealed soon plus I'll be announcing some live dates any moment now. There may also be a Netflix binge in there somewhere.
A geenie grants you three wishes. What are they? Easy. Bernard's watch, a lifetime supply of supermalt and three more wishes. Obviously.
