Ariana Grande has been confirmed to appear on a special one-off airing of MTV's Total Request Live.

The singer will appear on the show on July 2 at 7pm ET from MTV's Times Square studio in New York.

The program is being dubbed Total Ariana Live and the singer is expected to perform new song 'Problem' as well as make a special announcement.

Grande will also perform new single 'Break Free' on the show, which originally ran between 1998 and 2008.

The US singer commented: "It's a huge honour to be able to bring back a show like TRL. I used to love watching it growing up. [I] can't wait to celebrate with my loves in Times Square."

Sway Calloway is on hand to host the Grande special.
