Vocal sensation Ariana Grande has joined NBC's 'Hairspray Live!', it was confirmed today. 

The 'Focus' songstress is no stranger to acting and she will take the stage in the role of Penny in the highly anticipated NBC live musical. 

Grande posted about the exciting news on Instagram this evening (July 7) and wrote: "I've never been more excited for anything in my entire life. #HairsprayLive #Penny Dec 7th @nbc."

She also tweeted: "Penny has been a dream role since Hairspray opened on Broadway. At 9, I was (and still am) in LOVE w @KerryButlerNyc. hope to make u proud. anyway... I’m so honored and beyond excited to be a part of this dream cast...... I will for sure pass out at the table read. #HairsprayLive."
