Ariana Grande to debut new single 'No Tears Left To Cry'
Ariana Grande is set to release her new single 'No Tears Left To Cry' tomorrow on Friday, April 20.
The 24-year-old posted a clue on Twitter earlier this week. Returning to social media, Grande shared an upside down sentence which read ‘No Tears Left To Cry’, along with the date 4.20.
Grande has exclusively previewed the track at a listening party in London and is set to debut it on BBC Radio One tomorrow. It was inspired by the Manchester Arena terrorist attack at her concert in the UK last year on May 22. During the tragedy, a suicide bomber killed 22 people (including children) and injured dozens more.
Although not all the song alludes to the event, some of the lyrics do, which left listeners at the exclusive preview clearly emotional.
The singer has worked with Max Martin, Savan Kotecha and Pharrell Williams on her upcoming new album, which is said to be made up of a host of deeply personal songs, all inspired by the events and experiences that have affected her over the past two years.
The terrorist attack, in particular, left the young star heartbroken, driving her to organise the One Love Manchester concert a few weeks later in order to raise funds for the victims and their families. The concert was aired worldwide, with even more viewers than Live Aid in the 1980s. It featured performances from some of music's biggest stars, including: Coldplay, Miley Cyrus, Pharrell, The Black Eyed Peas, Katy Perry, Niall Horan, Little Mix, Take That, Justin Bieber, Mac Miller and Liam Gallagher.
Grande has pretty much retreated from the public eye in the wake of the tragic attack. However, she did perform her track 'Be Alright' at the March for Our Lives pro-gun-control rally in Washington D.C. last month. She also made an appearance at A Concert for Charlottesville last September after the white supremacist protests and clashes in the town left 32-year-old Heather Heyer dead and injured 19 others.
