Heartthrob Austin Mahone has slammed reports that suggest Fifth Harmony's Camila Cabello only dated him to raise her profile and to sell more records. 

It was confirmed this week that the pair had split after a short period of dating and yesterday (November 25), Hollywood Life claimed that an unnamed source told them the 5H beauty was only in a relationship with him to get more publicity.

The site quoted the supposed source as saying: "When she revealed that they were dating, he accused her of using it to sell albums and she was hurt by that and they both decided to break up."

Now, the singer has hit back at these 'ridiculous' claims and took to his official Twitter to set the record straight. Mahone wrote: "@HollywoodLife that's the most ridiculous reason I've ever heard... Nothing like that even happened at all. Idk what source u guys talking 2."

Camila Cabello then shared a message via her social networking page and told her followers that 'no one is the bad guy': "Guys guys. Nobody is the bad guy here and nobody deserves any hate. Lots of love. Goodnight. With that said, I'm taking a little break from twitter for a couple days. I love you all so much."
