Magnus Carlson & Weeping Willows Release Christmas Mini-Album 'Snow (Like The Snow)'

Magnus Carlson & Weeping Willows Release Christmas Mini-Album 'Snow (Like The Snow)' on December 1st

Following on from his Summer 2017 release, ‘The Northern Soul Sessions’ Magnus Carlson - one of Sweden's most successful artists - is announcing a special Christmas Mini-Album with his long-time band Weeping Willows

‘Snow (Like The Snow)’, released on December 1st, features a brand new collection of five great Christmas tracks by Magnus and Weeping Willows. In true Holiday spirit, a pair of guest vocalists have been invited to duet with Magnus and the release will be accompanied by a now-traditional Christmas tour in Sweden.

An early stand out is ‘A Snowflake Fell (And It Fell Like A Kiss)’, originally by Magnus' Scottish indie heroes Glasvegas and featuring the lovely Ane Brun. “We were very pleased to hear that Glasvegas really enjoyed our version”, says Weeping Willows multi-instrumentalist, Niko Röhlcke. The second duet, ‘Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)’ was made famous by Darlene Love and Phil Spector's classic production, here delivered as an energetic duet with Moneybrother (Anders Wendin).

The other two covers are ‘Snow (Like The Snow)’, (a relatively unknown gem that the band's A&R Per Sparf found on an old 45 by R&B/soul singer Tina Roberts), and The Zombies' ‘This Will Be Our Year’, not technically a Christmas song, but one that provides hope for the new year. The album also features a Magnus Carlson original ‘Christmas Is Sooner Than You Think’, written and produced by his guitar player Anders Lewén.

Weeping Willows were formed in 1995, and released their debut album, ‘Broken Promise Land’, two years later. Over the years, they have experimented with several different genres, today, they take on both their newer and older material with the type of knowledge and conviction that can only come from decades of experience. This mini-album is a natural successor to Weeping Willows' critically acclaimed Christmas album of 2014.

Magnus Carlson has had a long and illustrious career. He’s collaborated with more artists than even he can remember. From duets with songstress Anna Ternheim to features on big house tracks; from performing Velvet Underground-covers with Nina Persson of The Cardigans and Ebbot Lundberg of The Soundtrack of Our Lives to playing horns with Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds.
