Daytona Lights Release New EP 'Old Fashioned Love' May 20thDAYTONA LIGHTS DEBUT EP 'OLD FASHIONED LOVE' “They are true originals in a massively oversubscribed field of guitar bands, and that’s a fine and rare thing.” – John Robb (Louder Than War) “There’s a sense of space and musicality that references early 80s guitar bands like Aztec Camera, and in particular the vocal parts are so well executed it’s almost too good, Beach Boys standard (I kid you not).” – Clash Music Hot on the heels of their debut single ‘Midnight Beach’, which garnered praise from several key music figureheads, including XFM’s John Kennedy and the legendary Gary Crowley, Daytona Lights are all set to release their new EP on May 20th. The EP opens with the band’s latest single and bona fide earworm, 'Midnight Beach' - “Reminds me of ABC…” said Paul Lester (Amazing Radio/Guardian) “compliments don’t come higher than that”. A mixture of jagged guitars and crystal clear harmonies, with inspiration drawn from the melting pot of New York disco culture, the muscular groove is a response to the pressure of cruel jobs, and lyrically a paean to living beyond your means. ‘Submarine’ dips into more mysterious waters, swimming with sexual connotations and icy harmonies; while ’Don’t Know Who You Are’ is a self-reflection on temptation inspired by the Roddy Frame lyric “they say we’re lonely when we’re really just alone.” ’Sparks’, an ode to unrequited love, keeps up the killer chorus and hooks whilst capturing the essence of the bands energetic live performances; whereas ‘Chimes’ is about loving something that can never love you back; a beautiful ballad which pays homage to some of the better lyrics and bands of the last few decades. Old Fashioned Love was produced in the boys’ home studio nicknamed The Grotto by band member Louis, and mastered by renowned engineer Frank Arkwright at Abbey Road Studios.
