BBC One announces Let's Sing and Dance for Comic Relief

Who can forget Rufus Hound transforming into Cheryl Cole and busting out ‘Fight For This Love’, or Robert Webb’s amazing-lycra clad ‘Flashdance’ routine?

Let’s Dance for Comic Relief is back for Red Nose Day 2017, bigger and better than ever before as it is supersized into Let’s Sing and Dance for Comic Relief.

BBC One and BBC Entertainment present more celebrities, donning more fantastic outfits and learning more iconic dance routines for Comic Relief, but this time around the brave celebrities will be facing double the challenge…

The willing participants will be taking the mic as well as busting out some moves, as they have to sing as well as perfect the iconic dance routines from some of pops biggest hits.

The hosts, to be announced in due course, will not only present the series but have access all areas to the performing celebrities’ routines, breath-taking – in more ways than one – vocals, and they will even hit the streets of Britain to enlist the great British public in some of the biggest dance-offs ever. And with some surprise special guests in store, Saturday nights will be chock-full of performances from some of the nation’s favourite faces.

The celebrities will brave the stage to perform in front of a star-studded panel of celebrity and comedy guest judges, through three live heats before a live grand finale. Viewers at home and the panel will decide who makes it through to the final, with the audience crowning the eventual winner, all in aid of Comic Relief.

Let’s Sing and Dance for Comic Relief will be produced by Whizz Kid Entertainment. Jo Wallace is Commissioning Editor for BBC Entertainment, and it will be executive produced by Lisa Chapman, MD for Whizz Kid Entertainment and Nic McNeilis.

Malcolm Gerrie and Lisa Chapman, Executive Producers for Whizz Kid Entertainment say: ''We are delighted to be bringing our much-loved brand back to the BBC - this time with even more hilarity by adding singing into the mix. The original series had incredible support from so many celebrity participants and viewers so naturally we are hoping that everyone will once again get behind this exciting Comic Relief show. We are putting a great production team together and have plenty of surprises lined up in - and out - of the studio.''

Charlotte Ashton, Creative Director at Comic Relief says: “We are thrilled that Let’s Sing and Dance for Comic Relief will be part of next year’s Red Nose Day campaign. We hope that the celebrities doing their bit will encourage the nation to fundraise and donate to raise a life changing amount of money for people living the toughest lives in the UK and across Africa.”
