BBC One celebrates 50 years of pop music with spectacular entertainment special Even Better Than The Real Thing

This Autumn, BBC One is set to celebrate the biggest names in pop by bringing together the world’s best tribute artists in a brand new entertainment spectacular.

From the likes of George Michael, Ed Sheeran, Amy Winehouse, Katy Perry, Michael Jackson, and Adele - the show honours global singing stars past and present, as professional tribute artists showcase their amazing singing talents to re-create note-for-note performances of their idols.

The one off 1x60 special will also create unique and surprising duets, as the tribute artists deliver never-before-seen collaborations.
At the end of the show, the studio audience will pick their favourite performer; the one act on the night who is truly Even Better Than The Real Thing.

It is produced by BBC Studios Entertainment North and films this summer at MediaCity UK, Salford.

Rachel Ashdown, BBC Entertainment Commissioning Editor says: "In the last ten years, tribute artists have exploded in popularity across the UK and around the world. Their talent and professionalism is breath-taking and now BBC One is delighted to be sharing and celebrating these show-stopping performances.”

Even Better Than The Real Thing is commissioned by Kate Phillips (Controller, BBC Entertainment Commissioning) and Rachel Ashdown (Commissioning Editor, BBC Entertainment). The Executive Producers are Andrew Cartmell and Kieron Collins (Managing Editor of BBC Studios Entertainment North). The Series Producer is Maisie Maguire.
