Filming begins on contemporary thriller Informer produced by Neal Street Productions for BBC One

Paddy Considine, Bel Powley and Nabhaan Rizwan to star

Filming has commenced on Neal Street Productions new six-part contemporary thriller Informer, commissioned by Piers Wenger, Controller of BBC Drama, and Charlotte Moore, Director of BBC Content, for BBC One.

Informer will star Paddy Considine (Peaky Blinders, The Suspicions Of Mr Whicher), Bel Powley (The Diary Of A Teenage Girl) and newcomer Nabhaan Rizwan, with Jessica Raine (Call The Midwife, Wolf Hall) Sharon D. Clarke (Holby City, Unforgotten), Sunetra Sarker (Safe House, Broadchurch) and Roger Jean Nsengiyumva (Chasing Shadows, Sixteen).

Penned by talented new writers Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani, and directed by Jonny Campbell (The Last Post, WestWorld, The Casual Vacancy), Informer is produced by Neal Street Productions (Call The Midwife, Penny Dreadful, The Hollow Crown) for BBC One, and will air on Amazon Prime Video in the US following the UK broadcast. Informer will film on location in London.

Informer is a sophisticated, character-driven thriller about Raza, a young, second generation Pakistani man from East London (Nabhaan Rizwan) who is coerced by Gabe, a Counter-Terrorism officer (Paddy Considine) to go undercover and inform for him. Gabe, who has a past he is unwilling to expose, is joined by Holly, his new and ambitious partner (Bel Powley) whose endless curiosity becomes threatening to him. As the central counterterrorism investigation heats up, the stakes for all three get higher and higher. Informer tells a story about identity in a world where lines are increasingly being drawn and sides are being taken. What happens when you, or your friends, family or neighbours fall on the wrong side of that line and the personal becomes political?

Executive producers are Nicolas Brown, Sam Mendes and Julie Pastor for Neal Street Productions, Elizabeth Kilgarriff for BBC One, with Julian Stevens (The Fall, The Tunnel: Sabotage) producing and all3media International handling international sales.
