BBC News plans a week of special in-depth coverage to mark Brexit: Six Months to Go including access behind the scenes at Number 10 and an interview with the prime minister.
With six months to go until the UK is due to leave the EU, and many questions still to be answered, BBC News and current affairs takes an in-depth look at where we are now and what hurdles our government needs to overcome before next March.

Running from Monday 17 - Friday 21 September, Brexit: Six Months to Go will examine key issues across the week, such as the questions around the Irish border, immigration and freedom of movement, how much Brexit will cost/save the UK and how it might affect local businesses.

Beginning on Monday 17 September, Nick Robinson interviews the prime minister for BBC Panorama and has exclusive access behind the doors of number 10 Downing Street as Theresa May attempts to navigate Britain’s negotiations with Europe.

Reality Check correspondent Chris Morris will be answering audience questions across BBC Breakfast, 5 live and the Victoria Derbyshire programme in order to cut through the spin and help concentrate on the facts around Brexit. He will be on hand to explain to audiences some of the commonly used terms for Brexit and how it could impact their lives. Reality Check will also be assessing government preparations for Brexit and the current state of negotiations with the EU.

The BBC’s Six and Ten news bulletins see editors and senior correspondents address the key questions still being asked by the British public whilst Radio 1 Newsbeat tours the country on a Brexit Road trip to hear directly from listeners.

There will also be coverage from Salzburg where EU leaders meeting informally to discuss Brexit including an outside broadcast from Martha Kearney for The Today programme on BBC Radio 4.

On Friday, Politics Live will be taken over by the Brexitcast team to become Brexitcast Live.

The Brexit deadline is looming - just weeks left to get a deal, just months until we are due to leave the European Union. The stakes are high for Britain and at the centre of it all is the Prime Minister. Theresa May has to strike a deal with the EU and convince the public and MPs that her plan is the best plan. The only alternative, the Government say, is no deal at all. But many disagree - and her own party, the opposition and the country are divided. So what does the Prime Minister’s plan really mean and what else could we do? At a crucial time for the country, Panorama has been inside Downing Street with Theresa May as she seeks to navigate Britain’s negotiations with the EU. Nick Robinson interviews the Prime Minister, and hears from all sides about deals and no-deal.

Broadcasting live from Salford University, Steph McGovern will host a panel of business owners, students and young voters as they prepare for freshers’ week.

Steph also travels to Warsaw to look at how a booming economy and the Brexit vote has prompted a new wave of migration back to Poland. Then in Coventry – twinned with Warsaw – we find out what that could mean for the UK.

Chris Mason will explore the economics of Brexit with the help of the BBC News virtual reality studio.

Naga Munchetty takes the red Breakfast sofa to the heart of Brussels to meet the BBC’s Europe Editor Katya Adler.
BBC News Online

BBC News Online will be providing in depth analysis and vertical video, as well as using chatbots to help better understand the Brexit process. The first will be an ‘in article’ bot where audiences have the opportunity to follow a Q&A around a topic and dive deeper into that particular subject. The second will be a ‘Brexit Bot’, which will appear on the BBC Politics Facebook Messenger where audiences can subscribe and follow the latest Brexit news and be updated on key events.

There will also be short video explainers based on questions most frequently asked by audiences. In addition, the BBC Politics Facebook page will stream a live Brexitcast hearing directly from audiences members about their feelings towards the negotiations and process.

Today will host a discussion with BBC editors Laura Kuenssberg, Katya Adler, Kamal Ahmed and Simon Jack to get their unique political, economic and business perspective about how the Brexit process has progressed and what to look out for in the coming months.

On Thursday 20 September Martha Kearney will also broadcast live from Salzburg where EU leaders will be meeting for informal talks and Brexit is expected to be discussed.
5 live Breakfast

17-21 September, 6am, BBC Radio 5 live

On 5 Live Breakfast, Rachel Burden hosts an audience representing businesses from the North West to discuss how prepared they are for Brexit.

Other topics across the week include how young people and children will be affected by Brexit, how Brexit will affect industries in the nations, and the impact of Brexit on the international importing and exporting of products to and from the UK.

Each day on Afternoon Edition this week, a strand called ‘Brexit Stories From…’ hears from people in different parts of Britain who aren’t normally given a voice.

Newsbeat’s political editor Jim Connolly and political reporter Nick Rotherham will be touring the country throughout the week on a Brexit Road Trip, visiting all four nations in a vintage 1973 camper van which first hit the road the year the UK decided to join the Common Market. Both Jim and Nick will be speaking to as many regular listeners as possible, from hairdressers in Dumfries, port workers in Holyhead, to a live outside broadcast from the Irish border; Newsbeat will be listening to their questions and asking questions of the politicians making the decisions on their behalf.

The Victoria Derbyshire programme will follow a group of people over the next 6-12 months whose jobs, study and way of life will be affected by the Brexit outcome including students, small business owners, farmers and car plant workers. They will join journalist Chris Morris in the studio on the day to talk through the potential impact of Brexit on each of them, returning throughout the year and via short films to document their lives.

On Monday 17, Christian Fraser will report from his home town of Burnley - with a special report for the BBC News Channel and News at One; and he’ll present his nightly Beyond 100 Days programme at 7pm from the town, alongside Katty Kay in the US.

Later in the week Christian will present from Salzburg as EU leaders meet to discuss Brexit; and the BBC News Channel will bring reports from across the UK and Europe throughout the week - including some live broadcasts with Radio 5 live on Monday.
