What’s the reaction been to you taking part this year?
Everyone was like “What, again? That guy?!” Everyone has been super supportive, my mum is over the moon and she’s so excited. It’s been a pretty crazy year for everyone so hopefully it's going to be the most epic kind of escape for everyone. But I think pretty much everyone that I know is really excited about it!

Are you nervous at all about injuries this year?
If I get injured again it would look like I bottled it! So I really have to be careful. I'm not worried, I feel like I'm pretty fit and healthy. If something happens then the Strictly curse isn't about me sleeping with someone else, it’s definitely about my foot!

What do you think of this year’s line-up? Who do you feel is your biggest competition?
I’m freaking out about a few people. I mean Maisie, she looks pretty hot on the dancing and you know what Bill Bailey… you never know! I think everyone’s looking pretty good, it’s going to be a great year.

What was the main reason you were keen to take part in the show?
For me it's one of the shows that we all grew up with. Honestly, it makes my mum proud that I’m doing it and I’ve never made her proud before so that is literally one of the big reasons! I came out of it last year and obviously like most people I hate failing at stuff and it definitely felt like I failed last year so this is the time to really go for it.

What are you most looking for in a dance partner?
I feel sorry for anyone who's going to have me! I'm looking for someone who's going to really push me to the edge. I'm pretty good at being coached and I'm pretty competitive.

Who out of your family and friends were most excited for you to be back on the show?
I think my granny was pretty excited and grandma was over the moon about it. My mum is obsessed - she can’t get enough of it! She is crazy about it.

How would she rate your dance ability?
Terrible - my mum would say “You’re awful!” She tells me straight out, “You’re not going to win it, there’s no way.” She says I’ll be out about week three and I’m like, “What are you talking about?”

Do you have a favourite dance that you’re excited to do?
I think if I get that foxtrot I’m going to be in trouble but also I just can't wait to give it a go. I really want to move my legs and my hips at the same time.

Have you had any advice from previous contestants at all?
A friend of mine Pixie (Lott) gave me some advice. All the guys from last year too. Chris Ramsey said, “Jamie if you think it's hard, trust me. You have no idea how hard it’s going to be.” Everyone loved it, they said to have the best time and just really go for it.

How do you feel about the glam side of Strictly?
Are you kidding me? Dress me up as a glitterball and give me so much fake tan, I can’t wait. I want everything; it’s going to be unbelievable!

Are you competitive?
I’m pretty damn competitive, I don’t like losing at anything, and especially something I fell out of last year. I’m going for the win - that’s what I’m going for!
