Name: Radha

Age (at time of filming): 23

Job (at time of filming): Law graduate

Current location (at time of filming): Bradford

Hometown: I was born in Durham and the time I spent as a toddler was in County Durham. My family then moved to Bradford, West Yorkshire. I also boarded in North Yorkshire and Derbyshire.

Personal: Live with parents, brother and 14 year-old yellow Labrador Elsa.

Food style / inspiration: Drawing on my dual Indian-British heritage, my style combines Indian cuisine with Western adaptations. I also love pairing my food with cocktails! I love to recreate classic British desserts as they remind me of the puddings I ate at boarding school. I’ve been a vegetarian for the majority of my life, so this inspires me to cook with plant-based products, elevating a humble vegetable and giving it a spicy twist by pairing it with flavours of my Indian heritage.

Although I tend not to eat fish myself, I do enjoy cooking seafood for other people, so have a whole host of recipes in that department too.

Why Masterchef?: Although I’ve just finished a law degree, my heart lies in food. I only started cooking during lockdown as a means to alleviate some of the stress from my final exams at university. I haven’t been cooking for very long, but I feel like it comes naturally to me. I’ve always been creative, into my music and drama, so cooking allows me to use my transferable skills to show my creative flair for food. I’d love to see how good I am. I want to push myself to see how far I can take my cooking - by creating new ideas and delicious new recipes and competing against other cooks.

MasterChef is my programme of choice as it brings back fond memories each year when I look forward to watching the latest series on TV. So being on MasterChef was a dream come true.
