25 year old Josh, works as a recruitment consultant and has be married for nearly a year. He was born and grew up in Tring before moving to Cheltenham for university and now lives in Stratford-upon-Avon.

How would you describe your style of cooking?

Classic cooking with a modern twist. I used to be a science teacher and I’m still passionate about the subject. I think this is reflected in the style of food I make. I am no Heston that’s for sure but I do enjoy the processes involved in cooking.

What is your earliest cooking memory?

My earliest food memory is eating my nan’s mac and cheese. She had a secret ingredient in it which for years she made me guess what it was. It was only when I was about 14 when she eventually revealed that it was a special Austrian mustard! In terms of when I started cooking myself it was really only just before university. My mum taught me as she thought it would be a good ice breaker and a way of making friends, so that’s what I did. Turns out a big plate of brownies definitely does the trick.

Why did you enter MasterChef?

I've watched it since I was a kid and ever since I learned to cook myself it has been a goal. I wanted to see how good I actually was and to learn as much as possible. Cooking and gaming are my main interests and deep down I’m quite competitive so I’m eager to see how far I can go.

What is your food dream?

I would love to either get into food writing or become a fully-fledged chef working in the heat of the kitchen, experimenting with dishes and cooking delicious food.
