From Thursday 1 September, Radio 1’s Residency will continue on BBC Radio 1 and Radio 1 Dance with a brand new line-up for the autumn.

Each month, two DJs will take up a residency, shining a spotlight on the freshest, most influential and emerging sounds in electronic music.

Listeners will be transported into the worlds of the biggest names in pioneering, high-energy Dance music from across the international club scene in the weekly show.

The line-up for the months of September, October and November is as follows:

September: Uncle Waffles & Ahadadream
October: Helena Hauff & Eliza Rose
November: Joseph Capriati & Skream

Uncle Waffles

DJ and Producer Uncle Waffles brings fresh new energy to the dance music world. She shot to fame earlier this year after Drake shared a clip from one of her DJ sets. Her high-energy sets focus on Amapiano, and have cemented her as a key figure in the scene, taking her across the world for DJ gigs where she’s earned a loyal following among clubgoers and music lovers alike.

Uncle Waffles says: “From chasing a dream to living a dream is the most surreal feeling, being given this new avenue to bring the sound to the world in a different way feels amazing. I’m so grateful for the opportunity on Radio 1, grateful that I get to give even more Amapiano acts a big platform for the world to hear.”

Ahadadream

London-based producer and DJ, Ahadadream, represents percussive club sounds from all around the world and draws influence from UK Funky, GQOM, Kuduro, Afrobeats and much more. His own music also incorporates his own Pakistani heritage, often mutating traditional South Asian sounds into club weapons. Ahadadream has gained support from Bonobo, Jamie XX, Four Tet and many more.

Ahadadream says: “Starting out my musical journey in radio years ago, I always aspired to present a show on Radio 1, so I'm gassed to be a part of the Residency in September. I'm excited to be jumping back in the hot seat and sharing some of my favourite musical finds with the listeners, focussing on high energy percussion and low-end focussed bangers from around the world.”

Helena Hauff

The sound world of Helena Hauff is intense, electrified and futuristic, yet with strong traces of underlying emotionalism and experimentalism. Hailing from Germany, she has had several releases on notable labels such as Ninja Tune, PAN and Solar One Music. Her influences can be spotted in her eclectic mixtapes where industrial beats and abstract experimentalism meet EBM rawness.

Helena says: “I'm more than excited for my Residency on Radio 1 and I can't wait to share some new, some lost and some forgotten music with the listeners. I'm gonna tell some stories and share some musical feelings – I can’t wait to have fun together!”

Eliza Rose

As a DJ and Vocalist, Eliza Rose brings together her love of Soundsystem culture and soulful lyricism. Her current single B.O.T.A is currently no.2 in the UK charts and has been dubbed ‘song of the summer’ by many. She combines the lineage of strong female vocalists with her love for the UK club culture.

Eliza Rose says: "This is such an incredible opportunity for me! Only a couple of months ago this felt more like a dream rather than a reality! I feel so privileged and I’m so excited to show everyone my records.”

Joseph Capriati

World renowned Italian DJ and producer, Joseph Capriati digs deep into his influences and inspirations to serve up music from his past, present and future to fans around the world. He is one of the busiest touring DJs in the dance world, playing festivals and selling out clubs all over the world. His influences and DJ sets range far and wide through many forms of house and techno and Joseph has made a lasting mark on the global dance music underground by taking his sounds, his sets, and his fans into the unknown.

Joseph Capriati says: “I've been dreaming to host my own Residency on Radio 1 for a long time and I am honoured and looking forward to doing that in November. This is gonna be something very special.”

Skream

Having been one of the originators and pioneers of Dubstep in the early 2000’s, Skream’s current attitude of playing and making whatever he wants musically, sees him deliver a sound blending brand new house and techno, tied in with everything across his musical landscape. His club sets and festival sets are always high energy and full of House, Techno, Dubstep, UK Garage, Grime, Funk, Disco and much more.

Skream says: “I’m absolute thrilled about being back on the Radio 1 Residency. Through the course of my residency I’ll be going into the depths of my passion for a number of genres musically each week which means there’s going to be a bit of a reflection of my productions and career to date and maybe a few bit of unreleased Skream too.”
