T.Williams to join Radio 1’s In New DJs We Trust

T.Williams will join BBC Radio 1’s In New DJs We Trust as part of the on-going rotation of new and fresh DJs. Taking over from Éclair Fifi, he makes his debut on Thursday 31 October from 9pm to 10pm.

Recognised for his unique take on electronic music, he has created original remixes for top artists including Wretch 32, Jessie Ware and Disclosure as well as performing at clubs and festivals all over the world. His Radio 1 show will reflect his musical outlook - with his hour influenced by jungle, garage, grime and house music.

In New DJs We Trust is part of BBC Radio 1’s commitment to supporting the best in new and specialist music. Through this dedicated strand, Radio 1 champions the most important new dance music genres from the UK, while also giving new and emerging talent a chance to broadcast on national radio.

T.Williams says: “My first experience of Radio 1 was tuning into the legendary John Peel show - his real broad range of influences and sounds really stuck with me through to today. I was lucky enough to have John Peel support my music on his radio show, and also to play at his memorial show at Maida Vale. So to come from that and now to be on Radio 1 as a DJ myself is a massive honour, if I can represent even 5 per cent of the breadth of music John Peel did I’ll be very happy.”

Louise Kattenhorn, Editor for BBC Radio 1, says: “T.Williams is a rising star – he’s been developing his talents as a broadcaster and DJ, as well as making music that’s been supported by the likes of Pete Tong, Annie Mac, Mistajam and Nick Grimshaw. We’re looking forward to welcoming him into the Radio 1 family.”

This year has seen the hottest new talent around, including Nicky Romero; Monki; Rockwell; Simon Patterson; Moxie; Brodinski; Salva; and Jackmaster all featuring on the In New DJs We Trust strand on Thursdays from 9pm to 10pm on BBC Radio 1.
