LIMF Academy announces annual Music Biz 101 Masterclass


LIMF Academy is partnering with BBC Radio 1Xtra on a range of media & music industry events for young people in Liverpool ahead of 1Xtra Live - the station's annual flagship live music event.

 

Running until Friday 7th October, 16-24 year olds in Liverpool will have the opportunity to learn all about the music industry from some of the biggest names in the business, with one of the highlights  being the Music Biz 101 Masterclass happening on Oct 1st . Supporting and developing local, homegrown Merseyside talent has always been key in LIMF's mission statement, and the partnership with BBC 1Xtra highlights this dedication. The Music Biz 101 Masterclass is an annual event that is a prime example of this commitment. Taking place on 1st October the award-winning LIMF Academy will present the masterclass that allows emerging music talent to find out everything they need to know about the music industry but didn’t know who to ask, from getting heard to getting paid, from how to source funding to how to be a successful independent artist.

The LIMF Academy Masterclass features some leading lights in the UK Music Industry including Chris Price(Head of Music at BBC Radio 1 & 1Xtra), A.Dot (Presenter and A&R), Steve Levine (Grammy Award Winning Music Producer), Chart topping producer/artist SG Lewis and Universal Music Publishings’ Dani Sawyer, alongside local music leaders such as Dave Monks (BBC Merseyside), Becky Ayres (Liverpool Sound City), Sam Turner (Bido Lito!) and Peter Guy (GetIntoThis). The LIMF Academy Masterclass will also feature contributions from prominent national partners such UK Music, PRS for Music Foundation, Musician’s Union, Ditto Music and Help Musicians. The event will take place at Constellations with applicants able to get free tickets from www.skiddle.com. Places are limited and are on a first come first served basis, available to 16-25 year old artists, bands and DJ/producers.

Year on year, the LIMF Academy strives to improve the impact for all the attendees and we believe that this year’s edition will build greatly on our previous success.”

BBC Radio 1Xtra – PLAYLIST MEETING IN LIVERPOOL
How does music make it onto the BBC Radio 1Xtra playlist? How do tracks manage to get played on a radio station? Attendees will join the BBC Radio 1Xtra playlist staff for their playlist meeting in Liverpool and help choose tracks for the BBC Radio 1Xtra playlist in the run-up to BBC Radio 1Xtra Live in Liverpool.

BBC Music Introducing and BBC Radio 1Xtra Gig
BBC Music Introducing are teaming up with BBC Radio 1Xtra for a night of home-grown Merseyside talent in the lead up to 1Xtra Live in Liverpool. BBC Radio 1Xtra¹s Jamz Supernova and BBC Introducing¹s Dave Monks will be co-hosting an evening of Merseyside¹s finest undiscovered, under the radar talent including an open mic section. The event aims to showcase local talent. BBC Radio 1Xtra champions Hip Hop, R¹n¹B, Grime, Drum and Bass, Dancehall and Garage. The event is in partnership with LIMF Academy.

DJ Target gives Liverpool’s up-and-coming artists the chance to get their music heard by local tastemakers, BBC Radio 1Xtra producers and even the man himself.
