BBC Radio 1Xtra’s MistaJam and DJ Target tonight revealed the 10 acts from the world of black music that 1Xtra tip for big things in 2017, in the station’s annual Hot For 2017 list compiled by 1Xtra DJ’s and staff.

This year, 100 percent of the artists to feature on the list are from the UK - 90 percent of which are signed to independent record labels.

The Hot For 2017 list - which introduces 1Xtra listeners to some of the artists the station predicts to be big on the scene over the next 12 months is:

2016’s line-up included the likes of Bryson Tiller, Bugzy Malone and WSTRN, who went on to have a successful year, with support from BBC Radio 1Xtra throughout.

Artists to feature on the Hot For list in earlier years include Krept & Konan (2014), Sam Smith (2014), Ella Eyre (2014), The Weeknd (2013), Disclosure (2013), Frank Ocean (2012), Wretch 32 (2011) and Wiz Khalifa (2011).

MoStack says: “Happy and blessed to be included in the Hot for 2017 list. It's sick that 1Xtra are backing and supporting artists like myself. Next year’s gonna be crazy, more music, more videos. Let's get it…”

MIST says: "It's a huge thing for a Birmingham artist to be on the Hot For 2017 list. A year ago I would never have thought this would have happened to me. Big shoutout to everyone supporting."

Ray BLK says: “I'm so grateful for the recognition and 1Xtra's constant support! 2017 is going to be a big one!”

Jorja Smith says: “1Xtra has been playing in my house since it launched so I’ve always been listening in. So happy to be on the list, I feel very proud. Thank You.”
