Magdalene Abraha, 2022 1Xtra Future Figure and Publisher, says: “It’s a huge honour to be featured on 1Xtra’s Future Figures list. To be alongside other brilliant change makers as well as being recognised for my own work is doubly meaningful and something I’m very appreciative of!”

Solomon Smith, 2022 1Xtra Future Figure, Co-Founder of Brixton Soup Kitchen says: “It’s so amazing to be working with BBC 1Xtra and to be named as one of their Future Figures. Without my team at Brixton Soup Kitchen, none of this would be possible. Making a positive change in our community is everything we stand for and our goal is to continue to help tackle poverty – and to take Brixton Soup Kitchen international”.

Faron McKenzie, Head of BBC 1Xtra says: “The Black community is at the very core of everything BBC 1Xtra stands for and so for us, it is important that we celebrate those doing extraordinary work to positively impact Black lives now and for years to come. It is an honour to dedicate a space on our network to these special groups and individuals over the next month, and I hope that it inspires our young listeners who one day may end up on the 1Xtra Future Figures list themselves”.
