Of the 164 nominees across 23 categories, fewer than 10% are from outside the US. With 4 nominations BBC Sounds has achieved the most nominations of any platform outside of the US and Canada.

I’m Not A Monster from BBC Panorama and Frontline (PBS) has been nominated in three categories; Best Documentary Podcast, Best True Crime Podcast and Best Reporting.

The podcast, which unearthed the truth about an American mother who took her children into the heart of the ISIS caliphate, was the first time two of the world’s most respected investigative teams had come together to co-produce a major podcast for BBC Sounds.

Investigative journalist and host, Joshua Baker says: “I’m hugely grateful for the recognition that I’m Not a Monster is getting, it’s up there with some podcasts that I love and admire. It was a huge team effort and I'm really proud to see how popular and well received it's been in America as well as the UK”

Where Is George Gibney? explored the case of a famous Olympic swimming coach charged with child sexual abuse. Reporter Mark Horgan travelled across Ireland, the UK and the US on his quest for answers, whilst speaking to survivors and those who knew Gibney.

Mark Horgan and producer Ciaran Cassidy received a nomination for Where Is George Gibney? in the Best Production and Sound Design category.

Mark Horgan says: “We’re very proud that our series has been recognised on an international stage like this and hope that it will encourage more and more people around the world to listen to the podcast and pay attention to the story of George Gibney.”
