In this second series of Dewr, singer and actor Tara Bethan will be speaking to Welsh celebrities about the ups and downs of everyday life, from challenging times to happy times. This is the first time for Dewr to be made available on BBC Sounds.

In the first episode, Tara talks to the popular rock singer Yws Gwynedd who shares his love of gardening along with the grief he has faced in his life - losing three family members under very different circumstances.

As well as hearing from Yws Gwynedd, Tara will be chatting to an amazing line up of Welsh stars. Star of American series Gotham, Erin Richards opens up about freezing her eggs and body confidence, comedian Elis James talks about his new tour and his new mental health podcast and actor/director Ffion Dafis talks about her experience of menopause and her relationship with alcohol.

In the other episodes, journalist Beti George talks about the loneliness she has experienced after losing her partner and talks about Welsh independence, the playwright Daf James chats about adoption and dealing with negative reviews, comedian Carys Eleri opens up about losing her father and the importance of friends, while Seren Jones shares the worst experience of her life as a journalist in 2020.

The first series came to life in 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic and won a Gold Award in the category for Best Welsh Podcast at the British Podcast Awards.

Presenter Tara Bethan says: “Over the years, talking and sharing has been such a big help for me and creating a space to speak face to face with some of Wales’ most recognisable faces has been a real pleasure. It’s been an honour to learn so much from the guests on such a personal level and also sharing via a podcast for everyone to hopefully learn from them too!”

The first guest in the series Yws Gwynedd says: “Welsh podcasts are the best in the world. Everyone thinks they know everyone in Wales but I’ve learnt so much interesting things about people from Wales and beyond through listening to long conversations. It’s been an honour having the chance to do Dewr and it was a free therapy session at the same time!”

Gruffudd Pritchard, Content Editor for BBC Cymru Fyw says: “We’re so pleased to welcome Dewr to our Welsh podcast collection on BBC Sounds. Talks like this about mental health and life’s challenges are so important to our audience, especially during this period in time. I’d like to thank Tara, Llinos (the producer) and all of the guests from the series for talking so openly about their experiences and opinions in good faith. I hope the audience enjoys listening to it as much as I have.”

The first episode will be available today (Thursday 25 November) and following that, on Sundays on BBC Sounds.
