For the final 90 days of the League One season, the BBC & Folding Pocket Productions were given unparalleled, 24/7 behind the scenes access to Rotherham United’s Paul Warne and Oxford United’s Karl Robinson.

Forming this raw BBC Sounds podcast, Moment of Truth reveals a unique insight into life as a professional football manager. From the dressing rooms and training pitches, to within the managers’ offices and even their own homes, this podcast goes where other football podcasts don’t.

The result is an audio experience that authentically documents the electric highs and dismal lows of an EFL season-climax, all through the eyes of both managers.

Narrated by James Nesbitt, Moment of Truth chronicles the climactic 3 months of heartache and agony, tension and desperation, passion and joy.

Across 15 episodes, the podcast goes deep inside both clubs, allowing the audience to live and breathe each managerial decision and every vital point gained.

With both managers mic’d up during matches, the audience are taken to a place they’ve never been before, the touch line & the dug-out, offering a unique and rare insight into in-game management and the key decisions as they happen.

We’ll also be there as a fly on the wall within the clubs, inside the minds of both managers as the League One season comes to a close and promotion either beckons, or drifts away for another year…

Throughout the series, Paul and Karl also share windows into their personal lives. We get an insight into how their high profile roles impact their families and we hear directly from both managers’ wives.

Karl Robinson, Manager of Oxford United says: “The public have a perception of us as managers because of what we do within that box by the touchline. My life is entirely determined by that box. And that’s great because I feel safe in there. But I hope that this series shows there’s a lot more to doing our jobs - and us as people - than just that small box.”

Paul Warne, Manager of Rotherham United says: “Doing the series was a little bit like perverted therapy, but for a time it was therapy that was making us worse! The pressure on football managers is brutal and hopefully people will get a sense of what our world is like.”

Episodes 1-5 will be released on June 27 on BBC Sounds here.

Simon Clancy, Writer & Executive Producer, Folding Pocket, says: “Most people think they know what happens inside a football club. Moment of Truth shows that they don’t have a clue. Paul and Karl allowed us incredible access to highlight just how pressurised the beautiful game is”.
