Everyone thinks their playlist pops the most, but when it comes down to it, who can handle the heat? Music die-hards, Mimi The Music Blogger and Poet go head-to-head to see who can come through with the most fire tunes, each convinced they have the ultimate tracklist.

In this show of one-upmanship, each week a new scenario is set and judged by comedian Babatunde Aléshé, who lays out the rules and picks a winner for each round. It’s all about who can back up the fighting talk with the wickedest tunes!

Babatunde Aléshé says: “I’m so excited for this show because we’re taking it back! Digging into some classic records, Poet and Mimi both want to win. For that reason I’m expecting a good back and forth. I’m no easy judge so they better bring their A-game!”

Mimi The Music Blogger says: “I can't wait to share my favourite throwback tunes from the past. You know my name has music in it. Mimi the MUSIC blogger… so I'm coming out for a fight. Poet has nothing on me, just all talk, but I'm excited to play against him because he is one of few people I respect from the scene. I hope you guys are ready.”

Poet says: “So the BBC called man-like Po to let the listeners at home know what good music really sounds like. And I can’t lie to you, when you see some of the scenarios man’s involved in jheez. I can’t lie to you, Mimi, it’s not fair that they called me. I started listening to music with Moses, me and him walked for miles in that desert listening to music on a walkman. Mimi can’t chat to me.”

Throwback Throwdown is also available to listen on BBC Radio 1Xtra, with episodes broadcasting weekly from 25th October.

Scenarios facing Mimi and Poet include: ‘You’re booked to DJ at your ex's wedding’, ‘You're on a road trip with your best friends’ and ‘Aliens have landed and they’re BIG 1Xtra fans, but they’re also quite keen on global domination. What music will win them over and save the planet?’
