The Rap Game UK returns to BBC iPlayer at 7pm on Thursday 22 October, hosted by UK rap legends DJ Target, Krept and Konan.

Meet the six unsigned UK MCs who travel to Birmingham to get a masterclass in rap, living together in a luxury penthouse and competing to win a single record deal with Krept and Konan’s label.

Each week the artists are set two challenges in which they will be asked to step up and show that they have got the hardest bars, the song writing props, and the stage presence to cut it in the music industry.

The Rap Game UK is a 6x60' series made by Naked Television for BBC Three. It is commissioned by Fiona Campbell, Controller BBC Three and Ricky Cooper is the Commissioning Editor. Tom O’Brien and Cam de la Huerta are Executive Producers, Cicelia Deane is the Series Producer.

DDroid
Previously part of a successful Birmingham duo under the name Wavy Gang, Birmingham rapper Ddroid is now exploring his own world of freestyles and releases. His solo release Big Mistake made it onto some of the same UK rap playlists as Krept and Konan - but do his upbeat, catchy bars have what it takes to get him to the top of the rankings each week?

What made you want to apply for this series?

Series one was cool. And it was set in Brum! It’s the rapper’s dream - living in a penthouse, spitting your bars, get feedback, come out the backend doing great. Who doesn’t want that?

How would you describe your style of music

My style is melodic rap. But I’m versatile.

What do you want to take from the show?

I want to learn the technical stuff… the cons, the pros of the industry. I want to go in depth. I want to learn how to be a better person and rapper. Like in the clash challenge - if someone sends for you, how are you gonna feel? How are you gonna respond? The competition goes in depth into the different aspects of the music industry as a whole. It’s gonna be a learning curve. It’s all about what I can take from it - it could mean a lot for me. Win or lose, I've won.

Is there anything you’re worried about?

No. I’m just here for the experience. It’s been great so far. I ain’t got no complaints.

Where do you want to be in five years’ time?

In five years’ time I wanna be selling out the Ally Pally! In five years it should be Ally Pally levels. O3 levels. Plats. Couple number ones. Maybe number one album. Maybe even a Grammy. In five years’ time I wanna be a solid home-grown name. “DDroid - he came off The Rap Game UK!” I wanna be known.
