The Drop is a new entertainment format for BBC Three that will invite nine of Britain’s most promising up-and-coming creatives to enter their streetwear brand into a life-changing competition. Filmed in Manchester, the series will capture the cultural synergy between fashion, music, sport, celebrity and business and provide one individual with a life-changing prize. As previously announced, Grammy Award winning artist Miguel will lead the judging panel as Head Judge and Consulting Executive.

Clara Amfo will host the show, combining her love for streetwear with her strength in presenting. Recently announced as the new host of BBC Radio 1’s flagship new music show Radio 1’s Future Sounds, Clara has been presenting on Radio since 2015, hosting The Official Chart and then the world famous Live Lounge slot. Known as a key tastemaker in the music industry, Clara has interviewed and hosted some of the world’s biggest artists.

Marc Jacques Burton joins the judging panel as a series judge. An entrepreneur and high-end designer, Marc has his own luxury British label called MJB and Starlit, a womenswear brand which he co-founded. Marc Jacques Burton’s brand MJB, designs the go-to clothing for superstar musicians, actors and supermodels such as Travis Scott, Zayn Malik, Tom Holland, Tom Hardy and Gigi Hadid.

Professional skateboarder, designer and model Blondey completes the judging line up. Blondey has collaborated with and modelled for some of the biggest fashion brands in the world including Burberry, Valentino, Louis Vuitton, Supreme and Adidas, with whom he has designed several bestselling trainers. He is the sole owner and creative director of cult London streetwear label THAMES MMXX and also hosts his own podcast series which debuted earlier this year.

Clara Amfo says: “I’m so excited to be presenting The Drop - clothing and in particular streetwear has been a constant passion of mine, so to marry that with this role is a dream come true! There is so much design talent in the UK that inspires the world over and I can’t wait for the audience and hopefully future fans of these creatives to see what they bring to the table!”

Marc Jacques Burton says: “It was always my dream to have a clothing brand. I have had so many valuable lessons, through my journey in creating MJB. I cannot wait to mentor the Creatives of The Drop and help them shine. It’s going to be a fun ride with Miguel and Blondey. It will be interesting to see what we agree and disagree on. I hope the show helps ignite a new wave of streetwear designers.”

Blondey says: “I’m not entirely sure what Miguel was thinking and/or drinking when he asked me to participate in The Drop, but I am glad that he did! I have no doubt that the show will be an inspiring one to have a hand in creating, and that the talent who are to do so (both on-screen and off) will make it an inspiring one to watch.”

The Drop is an 8x45 commission made by Renowned Films for BBC Three. It was commissioned by Fiona Campbell, Controller BBC Three and Jo Wallace, Acting Controller BBC Entertainment.
