Published: October 18, 2024 -- BAFTA nominated BBC comedy Man Like Mobeen is returning to Small Heath for a fifth and final series, with filming underway in Coventry and Turkey.

First-look images have been released, taken on the set of the upcoming series featuring Guz Khan (Army of Thieves, The Bubble) as the notorious lead character Mobeen, alongside Tolu Ogunmefun (Don’t Jealous Me) as Nate and Perry Fitzpatrick (Line of Duty, Sherwood) as Harper.

Following series four, one of BBC Three’s most watched comedies last year, viewers were left reeling from the cliffhanger ending and pondering the fate of haphazard Mobeen after he was attacked in prison.

Across the six new episodes, which will air on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer in 2025, the series promises an epic finale. Mobeen is back on the outside and reunited with the gang in Small Heath, before embarking on an epic adventure overseas, if Mobeen can get his hands on a plane ticket and a fake passport that is.

Guz Khan says: “Listen, please, this is very important to the sanctity and functionality of my life. I can’t even shop in Aldi without someone popping out from behind the bread aisle and asking me when there’s going to be more Man Like Mobeen. So for you, and only for you, here’s one, final, very last, never to be done again season of Man Like Mobeen. P.S Please don’t make me make anymore, I got loads of kids to raise and that. Love you.”

Tom Jordan, Creative Director of Comedy at Tiger Aspect, says: “We’re thrilled to be bringing Mobeen back to the screen. He has a lot of unfinished business, and this series aims to be the most ambitious and hilarious yet. Can’t wait for audiences to see what we’ve got in store.”

Jon Petrie, BBC Director of Comedy, says: “Man Like Mobeen has been a comedy juggernaut for BBC Three, and saying goodbye is going to be tough for everyone. But as much as we don’t want to, we’ve got to be grown-ups and accept it's the end. Guz Khan and Andy Milligan have crafted something truly special in these final scripts, and we're going out with a bang... even if keeping a straight face will be a challenge. It's the last series, but it’s bigger and funnier than ever.”

Cast also returning include Salman Akhtar (Lootin’) as Saj, Duaa Karim (DI Ray) as Mobeen’s younger sister Aqsa, Mark Silcox (Mandy) as the true OG Uncle Shady, Korkmaz Arslan (My Sweet Pepper Land) as Turkish barber Emre, and Hussina Raja (Informer) as Mobeen’s crush Nida.

The series is written and co-created by Guz Khan and Andy Milligan, who together were named Best Writer three years running at the RTS Midlands Awards. Man Like Mobeen previously won Best Comedy at the 2020 Broadcast Digital Awards and was nominated for Best Comedy at the 2021 BAFTAs. Series 4 achieved an average audience of 1.1m and was the top performing BBC Three comedy of 2023.

Tiger Aspect’s Man Like Mobeen Trainee Scheme has once again created entry-level production jobs for candidates within the West Midlands, with four placements across Costume, Art, Production, and the Camera team. Alongside this, the show has also combined with both ScreenSkills and the BBC Comedy Collective to add roles on the production for a Shadow Director, a Co-Producer, and an Associate Producer.

Man Like Mobeen (6x30’) is made by award-winning Tiger Aspect Comedy (part of Banijay UK) in co-production with Dice Roll Productions (founded by Gill Isles and Guz Khan). The series is directed by David Sant (Home, Rosie Molloy Gives Up Everything, Bluestone 42), produced by David Simpson and executive produced by Gill Isles and Tom Jordan. It was commissioned by Jon Petrie, Director of BBC Comedy and the Commissioning Editors for the BBC are Tanya Qureshi and Navi Lamba. Banijay Rights will distribute the series internationally.
