More classic comedy and drama box sets coming to BBC iPlayer

Viewers can enjoy even more comedy and drama box sets from the BBC archive, with 90s classics dinnerladies, Keeping Up Appearances and This Life all arriving on BBC iPlayer

Every episode of dinnerladies, Keeping Up Appearances and This Life will be streaming on BBC iPlayer in the coming weeks, starting with dinnerladies which is available now.

Created, written, co-produced and starring national treasure Victoria Wood, dinnerladies is set in the canteen of Manchester based factory HWD Components, and follows the lives of its caterers and regular customers. The iconic sitcom has an equally iconic cast, including Julie Walters, Celia Imrie, Thelma Barlow, Maxine Peake and Anne Reid. Both series of the show, which was first broadcast in 1998, are streaming now on BBC iPlayer.

Another classic 90s British sitcom, Keeping Up Appearances, will arrive the following week. From Tuesday 16 November, viewers can stream all five series, with Patricia Routledge and Clive Swift as the famous social-climber Hyacinth Bucket and her long-suffering husband Richard.

Cult drama This Life is next, with both series and a ten years later special streaming from Tuesday 30 November. Starring Amita Dhiri, Andrew Lincoln, Daniela Nardini, Jack Davenport and Jason Hughes, the programme charted the careers and personal lives of five old college friends who wind up sharing a house together as young lawyers in the 90s.

The box sets returning to BBC iPlayer are:

dinnerladies - Thursday 11 November
Keeping Up Appearances - Tuesday 16 November
This Life - Tuesday 30 November

These box sets join lots more classic box sets already available on iPlayer, including fellow favourites from the 1990s: The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, One Foot in the Grave, The Thin Blue Line, Absolutely Fabulous and The Vicar of Dibley. Plus, there’s a wide selection of unmissable new box sets like dramas Showtrial, Ridley Road, The Trick, The North Water and Vigil, comedies The Outlaws, Bump, The Cleaner and Alma’s Not Normal and documentaries like The Mating Game, Universe and Blair & Brown: The New Labour Revolution.
